In the fabulous scenary of Parco dei Nebrodi and exactly in Longi, a very friendly little village with an old tradition, is situated the restaurant “L’Essenza dei Nebrodi”.
The simple and elegant structure can receive about eighty people. Here they will find refined menu steeped in genuine and incomparable tastes of the typical products of the territory of Nebrodi but also a great variety of wines and a special care in the way in which dished are presented. The specialty, the black swine of Nebrodi and its by-products, are exalted by the original combinations of the professional experience of the Chef Giacomo Longo.
Particular importance is given to the different kinds of cold meats and salami (capicollo, fellata, lardo1) served with a variety of jams, with porcini sausage, pork roll stuffed with spontaneous vegetables and bacon and tagliatelle with porcini. Among the most homemade dishes you can find “maccheroni di casa con ragù di sutta e supra di suino nero”2 and fillet carpaccio (row meat) with slices of ricotta cheese of Nebrodi.
These dishes such as porcini or some cheeses (canestrato, maiorchino, provola3 and ricotta cheese) are presented in harmonious and delicious combinations such as the little bowl with potatoes and porcini, artichoke and provola au gratin, ricotta cheese with the old-origin tomato jam. A great attention moreover is given to the choice you have to vary and choose typical local meats or vegetables that nature seasonally offers.
